Her name was Stella. She was the founder’s American Staffordshire Terrier and the reason for this service. Stella was very much attached to me. She protected me on walks, and watched over me, and comforted me. She followed me everywhere. Although she had some separation anxiety, she was overjoyed when I returned home. Life was great as long as I returned home.
But what if I didn’t return home due to an automobile accident or medical emergency? Who could take care of Stella the same day? Where could she be boarded and how would I get her there?
Without a pet guardian to help me, no one may know Stella is stuck at home alone, she won’t be fed or taken outside. Stella depended on me to take care of her basic needs every few hours. She was also very sensitive to changes and being left alone.
If she barked for a long period of time and a neighbor called police, an Animal Control services rescue would not go well after breaking into my home to quiet Stella’s barking. After some time in the Animal Control custody if I cannot pick her up, euthanasia would be her fate. That would hurt me deeply. Her fate would be a terrible end and it was due to my accident.
